I am working with ubuntu16.04. But i noticed from the start that i cannot type @ symbol. Realtek rtl8723be suddenly my wifi is gone and there is no option to turn it.

I just finished installing ubuntu on my amd athlon, but i cannot type the at sign. Upvoting indicates when questions and answers are useful. I have to copy and paste it every time.

I recently installed ubuntu 13.10, and updates it regularly. So on my keyboard i press shift then the number 2, and up comes inverted commas. I have tried using alt+64, ctrl+alt+2, ctrl+alt+q, but nothing. You'll need to complete a few actions and gain 15 reputation points before being able to upvote.
For example typing at symbol (shift+2) displays double quote () typing. But instead of the pipe symbol the key prints the <. I use a toshiba satellite c640 with i3 processor laptop. However, i tried several options in the keyboard.
On ubuntu 22.04.1 lts with dvorak and us keyboard layout the laptop has the pipe | symbol above the right enter key.
